Each print starts with a small idea drawn from Japanese philosophy, everyday observation, or a way of seeing that is easy to overlook.

Printed on heavyweight cotton, these shirts are not made to speak loudly.

In Japanese, the character 和 is often translated as peace. But its meaning is broader than that. It can suggest harmony, balance, and a way of being with others. It is also a character long associated with Japan itself, not simply as a country, but as a cultural sensibility shaped over time.

This design takes that single character and builds it from many smaller ones. From a distance, it reads simply. Up close, it reveals its layers.

Beneath it sits a phrase shared across languages and cultures. May Peace Prevail On Earth.

The front is kept minimal with the Fubutsushi seal. The rest is left intentionally open.

At Ryoanji temple in Kyoto, there is a well known stone basin bearing an unusual inscription. The characters are arranged around a central square, each one depending on that shared centre to be read in full. Together, they form the phrase 吾唯足知, often understood as I know only that I have enough.

It is a simple thought, though not always an easy one. Rather than speaking about scarcity, it speaks about measure. About knowing when something is sufficient. About finding depth without needing excess.

For this design, the phrase is rendered in brush calligraphy within an enso circle, a form drawn in one continuous gesture. Not perfect. Not repeated. Just one moment, left as it is.

The front remains quiet, marked only with the Fubutsushi seal.

The result is a shirt that carries an idea without forcing it.
